Toilet keeps clogging or gurgling? One clog or a main line problem?

Plunging a clogged toilet

If only the toilet acts up, it's usually a clog close by. If the toilet gurgles when other drains run, it's usually the main line. Here's how to tell.

Need it cleared? That's what my clogged toilet help in Libby and Troy is for.

The drain test

  1. Run the bathroom sink for a minute. Does the toilet gurgle or rise?
  2. Run the tub or shower. Same question.
  3. Check the lowest drain in the house, like a floor drain or basement shower. Any water coming up?

Yes to any of these means the main line, not just the toilet.

Just the toilet

Usually too much paper, or something that shouldn't have been flushed. A good plunger often does it. If not, call me.

The main line

Stop using water and call me. A main line backup gets worse fast. I clear the line and check it with my camera.

What not to flush

Wipes, even the ones that say flushable. Paper towels. Grease. Anything that isn't toilet paper.

Common questions

Can you come at night?

Yes, 24/7. After 6 p.m. costs a bit more, and I tell you the rate first.

Do you replace toilets?

I clear clogs and lines. For a new toilet, you want a plumber.
